Using iZotope plug-ins in Apple Garageband

GarageBand can host both AU effect plug-ins, such as Ozone 6 and Nectar 2, and AU instrument plug-ins like Iris 2 and BreakTweaker.

To add an iZotope effect plug-in to a track in GarageBand, follow these steps:

  1. Select an audio or instrument track.
  2. Click on the "Smart Controls" button at the top left of the screen. This is the button that looks like a knob on a stereo system.
  3. The Smart Controls will appear at the bottom of the screen. Now click on the "i" button in the Smart Controls window.
  4. Click on the arrow next to the word "Plug-ins" to open the Plug-ins section.
  5. Click an empty "insert" to open the plug-in selector and navigate to the Audio Units > iZotope folder.
  6. Now select the plug-in you would like to insert.

To add an iZotope instrument plug-in to a track in GarageBand, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have at least one instrument track in your project. To add one, go to the Track menu and select "New Track." Double-click "Software Instrument" to create a new instrument track.
  2. Click on the Software Instrument track to select it.
  3. Click on the "Smart Controls" button at the top left of the screen. This is the button that looks like a knob on a stereo system.
  4. The Smart Controls will appear at the bottom of the screen. Now click on the "i" button in the Smart Controls window.
  5. Click on the arrow next to the word "Plug-ins" to open the Plug-ins section.
  6. Click an the empty area that says "Instrument" and navigate to the AU Instruments > iZotope folder.
  7. Now select the plug-in you would like to insert.
