RX Connect behaviors in Avid Pro Tools 11.3.1-12

April 29, 2016

When using Audiosuite plug-ins, there are various user definable input and output behaviors, which affect how you may use RX Connect. In Pro Tools 11.3.1 and above, these behaviors are: Input

  • Recognizes individual clips in the timeline, as well as fades.
  • Treats the entire selected area as one clip.
  • Modes
  • Treats mono, dual mono and stereo clips, as well as multi-channel clips, all as discrete mono clips (e.g. a stereo clip will send as two separate mono files).
  • Treats dual mono and stereo audio clips as one entity.
  • Output
  • A user definable destructive / non destructive overwrite of the clip(s) in the timeline.
  • Recognizes individual clips in the timeline, and writes to them while preserving fades, and in some cases, handles.
  • Writes one single clip, that replaces the one or multiple clips originally sent in the timeline.
  • Configurations There are multiple possibilities for configuring these behaviors, which result in different functionalities. Some have handles, some do not. Here are the supported, recommended configurations. Any configurations not covered here are not supported, and may not work correctly:

    - Once you’re done editing in RX, this mode will send back one stereo clip that replaces the original selections.
    - Handles are supported, and are based on the timeline, not the clip.
