How to use RX as an audio editor with DaVinci Resolve 12

April 29, 2016

RX is a powerful audio editor that DaVinci Resolve users can use to get better sounding audio in their video projects.

To edit audio from your DaVinci Resolve project in RX:

  1. In your Media Bin, right click on the audio clip
  2. Select:
    • OS X: “Reveal in Finder”
    • Windows: “Reveal in Media Storage”
  3. Open the revealed file in RX and edit it
  4. When you are done, in RX choose File/Overwrite Original File to automatically update the clip in your DaVinci Resolve Media Bin, or File/Export to make a new file, and then re-import that file in DaVinci Resolve.

Please note that it is possible to load the RX plug-ins as realtime plug-ins within the DaVinci Resolve timeline itself. The RX 5 Dialogue De-noise plug-in is designed to be used in realtime with low latency, but some of the other plug-ins, such as De-click or De-hum may have a latency that DaVinci does not compensate, which could cause audio to lose sync. Any plug-in that’s not Dialogue De-noise should be avoided in realtime usage scenarios.
