Every Friday, we’re sharing a newly released song or album from one of our favorite artists and how they used an iZotope product on it.
This week we spoke with Matt Bayles, who produced, engineered, and mixed the new Screaming Females album, All At Once, released February 23 on Don Giovanni Records.
"I have used iZotope gear consistently over the last few years. Love Trash 2, can’t live without the RX series, and jumped in further with Ozone 7 and Neutron when they were released. On Screaming Females’ new album, All At Once, we used RX 6 on some element of almost every song. Whether it was cleaning up a noisy guitar amp buzz, the background noise from my Standard Audio Level-ors on drums, or racket from my vintage Roland Chorus echo on a quiet passage. Couldn’t live without it.
"Also, Ozone 7 was used on the mix buss of the track “Dirt." Both the vintage compressor and the imager, in multiband mode, were used to create the vibe on that track. The Imager especially did something that nothing else I had would do."
