Problem:

How can I use my iZotope plug-in in Sound Forge?

Solution:

To apply a DirectX plug-in in Sound Forge:

  1. Begin by using Sound Forge to open an audio sample for editing in a new window. This audio sample will eventually be transformed by our plug-in, so please be sure to save a backup copy.
  2. Now select and highlight a region of the sample to be transformed, and look in the lower-left corner of the sample's edit window. Here you should see a list of playback controls, including "play" and "stop." At the rightmost end of this list, you should see an icon depicting a box with input and output lines. Please press this control.
  3. When this button is pressed, an Effect Chain window will appear, showing the complete chain of plug-ins and effects to be applied to this sample.
  4. If no plug-ins are currently loaded in the chain, a plug-in selection dialogue should open automatically; otherwise, press the "Edit Chain" button (at top) to enter this dialogue.
  5. To add a plug-in to the chain, select the plug-in within this dialogue, and then click OK. By default, iZotope plug-ins should be listed under the "Third Party" folder.
  6. To view the user-interface for a plug-in, just click on the appropriate member of the plug-in chain. Use the "Preview" control at the top of the Effect Chain window to listen to your effects before you physically transform the sample with them.
