You want your photos to look good on the TV. With PhotonTV they
will. Here's why:
 |
Flexible Format Support
PhotonTV creates a wide range of VideoCD disks including
Video CD (VCD2.0), Super Video CD (SVCD), and XSVCD. This
provides compatibility with the widest range of DVD players,
with the ability to provide the highest level of VideoCD quality.
VideoCDs created with PhotonTV can be played on most hardware
and software (Mac/PC based) DVD players. Support for the VideoCD
format allows anyone with a CD burner to create PhotonTV disks
- a DVD burner isn't required. |

High Resolution Stills
with Transitions
PhotonTV uses a special mode of VideoCDs to display
photos at almost twice the resolution as a movie or motion
image. In addition, PhotonTV can combine these high resolution
still images with smooth transitions. Unlike other products,
with PhotonTV you don't have to choose whether you want to
create a show with sharp looking photos and no transitions,
or fuzzy looking photos with transitions. PhotonTV lets you
have both. Sharp photos and great transitions, all in the
same show. |

|
| Optimized for the TV |
|
| Displaying photos on the TV presents
special technical challenges. Don't worry, though - PhotonTV
was designed for this purpose. PhotonTV can automatically apply
"anti-flicker" control to your photos, resize them
so the entire photo is displayed on your TV (fitting to a TV
"safe zone") and even correct colors (the range of
colors that a TV can display is different than the range that
a PC monitor or digital camera can display). Don't know what
any of that means? That's OK - it just means that your photos
will look good on the TV. |

| Professional Encoding |
|
VideoCDs and DVDs use compression
or "encoding" to allow hours of media to be stored
on a single disk. The type of encoding and technology behind
it makes a significant difference on the quality and amount
of compression that can be acheived. The MPEG-1 and MPEG-2
encoding provided with PhotonTV is the result of years of
research and development, and is the same encoding used by
professional video products that cost thousands of dollars.
With the standard PhotonTV encoder settings, your shows will
look great. But PhotonTV goes beyond that, giving you advanced
control over DVD and encoder settings to completely customize
and optimize the encoding. If you want higher compression
and lower quality, you can do that. if you want still photos
to have the absolute highest quality and are willing to allow
transitions to have slightly lower resolution, you can do
that. There are even parameters to tweak to allow DVD players
that won't typically play other VideoCDs to play PhotonTV
disks. |
